"Thomas Boston gives us a definition of the justice of God. Boston tells us that God, “...is infinitely righteous and equal, both in himself, and in all his dealings with His creatures...He cannot do anything that is contrary to the perfection of His nature: he cannot lie nor deny Himself. He is just to Himself in maintaining His own glory, and His divine rights and prerogatives; for He will not give His glory to another. And He is just towards His creatures in all His dealing with them, particularly with man.” (End Quote)
The justice system of our own nation finds its basis in the fact that God Himself is just, and demands that His creatures also live and work in justice. As you know, and can see every day on the news, we have fallen a long way from God's justice, and down into the depths of human justice, which is based on human ideas of right and wrong or perceived justice and injustice.
This very topic is what the SBC and other denominations have tripped up on over the last decade or so. Culture cannot be the basis of justice. It is almost always the case, especially in other less Christianized countries, that justice is derived from cultural norms and, ultimately, who has the most power to enforce their will."
