"How sad that the reputation of churches all across this land has been blackened by people who claim Christ but live lives that are less than holy. Actually, preaching about holiness is not very popular. Those who preach that we are to be holy will often be called legalistic.

People want to continue in their sin, and so, if a pastor preaches what God says about life and godliness, he is considered legalistic. Remember, calling people to holiness is not legalistic. Calling people to holiness is appealing to the new nature that abides in them. If they are genuinely a Christian, there is a desire to please God. There is a desire to worship God in the beauty of holiness. In other words, the communion between God and man is found in the atmosphere and reality of holiness. Sin is not welcome in the presence of holiness."
