"Sound doctrine is understood from a correct rendering of the truths of Scripture. In other words, we do not take Scripture and remove it from its context, and we do not apply culture and worldly philosophy to the Scriptures, but rather, gauge and view culture and philosophy through the lens of the Word of God. It is rather easy to get this backwards and many people, caught up in a cultural moment, facing theories and movements, begin to look at the Scriptures from a worldly perspective and seek to make the Scripture obedient to the cultural context."
