"I know you have experienced, in our culture at least, the comparison of humanity to animals. Humanistic philosophy must point humanity to material creatures or animals. It does this, because, to point to the earthly, rather than the heavenly, (so in the opposite direction), is to not acknowledge that man has a spirit which distinguishes him from the base animals. It is more convenient to call man an animal and thus untether mankind from God.


Why would people want to 'not' think about the fact that they are made in the image of God? Because, if we are animals, we have no spirit, and our behavior can be subjective or even classed into the category of instinct. Sinful human philosophy and ideology, must break the connection between God, who is Spirit, and mankind, who is created in the image of God. As Thomas Boston noted, “Their perfections (material beings and all created spirits) are derived from Him; and therefore he is called “the Father of spirits,..” (End Quote)"
