"The mission of the Lord was first and foremost the people of Israel. We should note that the Lord said that His people, the people of Israel, were “lost.” They had lost their way. They had been given the Law and the Prophets. They had taken the blessings of God and had abused them. They had perverted the law of God to allow for the fulfillment of their own lusts. The people were religious but lost.
So many people are religious but lost. People actually find some measure of comfort in religion but it does not last. The lostness of the soul cannot find rest outside the embrace of the Creator. The Lord clearly speaks to the fact that the people of Israel are like sheep who have become lost."
